Christmas brings joy, family gatherings, gifts and above all delicious food. Christmas dishes and traditions vary greatly from region to region and also from family to family. In the north the Pranzo di Natale is celebrated on the 25th and in the center and south the Cenone della Vigilia on the 24th.

 

CENONE DELLA VIGILIA

The Italian Christmas menu for Christmas Eve is called Cenone and this day is usually prepared with a lean fish dinner. Dishes range from fresh fish, eels, desalted cod and seafood prepared in different versions depending on the traditions of each region.

 

BIRTH DAY

On Christmas Day the menu is more Luculian and meat is also eaten. A curiosity: in some regions a dinner of “antivigilia” is celebrated on the 23rd with the preparation of seven dishes (the seven deadly sins to spy) while the 24th is fasting.
